Middle Market Commercial Underwriter

Job Summary Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Middle Market Commercial Underwriter to join a growing team. This position plays a critical role in expanding commercial product lines and ensuring the success of underwriting operations. Compensation Package Salary Range: $70,000 - $140,000 annually Comprehensive benefits package available Professional development opportunities Responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite middle market commercial insurance risks, with a focus on workers' compensation and other commercial lines. Analyze and interpret state and NCCI workers' compensation manuals, guidelines, rating elements, and competitive landscapes. Develop and maintain loss-sensitive rating programs. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure underwriting decisions align with company goals and risk appetite. Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and other stakeholders. Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel and other tools to analyze data and make informed underwriting decisions. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge. Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business, or a related field. Minimum of five years of workers' compensation or commercial line underwriting experience. Strong preference for candidates with commercial underwriting experience. In-depth knowledge of state and NCCI workers' compensation manuals, guidelines, and rating elements. Experience with loss-sensitive rating programs. Professional certifications such as CPCU, ARM, CIC, or similar are highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills required. Exceptional communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
