Accounting Manager

Accounting ManagerWe are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support the accounting team during a maternity leave coverage. This role is responsible for managing month-end close activities, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, technical accounting, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and SOX requirements. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong full-cycle accounting experience who can work independently while providing guidance to senior accountants and partnering with cross-functional teams.Key Responsibilities:Lead and complete month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and approval.Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate account variances.Conduct variance analysis and prepare accurate financial reporting.Research and resolve complex accounting issues in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls and accounting policies.Partner with accounting teams across North America and global business units.Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.Review accounting work completed by team members and provide guidance as needed.Identify and implement accounting process improvements.Participate in special projects and support strategic accounting initiatives.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting.6+ years of progressive accounting experience.Strong experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close.Experience preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Preferred Qualifications:CPA or MBA.Previous management or team lead experience.Experience supporting internal and external audits.Experience with ERP financial systems.Retail industry accounting experience is a plus
