HR Generalist (Temporary Leave Coverage) – Non-Profit Organization | New Haven, CT
A non-profit organization in New Haven, CT is seeking an experienced and adaptable HR Generalist to provide coverage during a temporary leave. This role is ideal for a human resources professional who can step in quickly, support day-to-day HR operations, and help maintain a positive and compliant workplace in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support daily human resources operations, including employee relations, onboarding, and HR administration
- Assist with benefits administration, new hire paperwork, and employee record maintenance
- Help coordinate recruitment activities, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
- Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Maintain HRIS records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
- Support compliance with employment laws, internal policies, and organizational procedures
- Assist with performance management, training coordination, and employee engagement initiatives
- Partner with leadership and staff to address HR-related questions and issues
- Provide additional support during the leave period to ensure continuity of HR services
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in an HR Generalist or broad human resources role preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, employee relations, onboarding, and benefits administration
- Experience with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred
