Within our Retail locations, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence, acting as a role model for the pharmacy team and supporting pharmacy operations district-wide. As a DSP, you cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You are accountable for supporting the management, oversight and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team while working in stores throughout the district. Responsibilities Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); serving as the PM’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation Assuming PM’s day-to-day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist on duty Providing compassionate patient experiences and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same; collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team and resolving insurance or medication issues Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacists and Technicians to learn immunization procedures Supporting inventory management with a focus on protecting cold chain products Maintaining flexibility for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team environment Maintaining clinical and technical skills through required trainings and continuing education Supporting access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services where permissible) Understanding and complying with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies; protecting patient privacy and maintaining a safe workplace Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe Attention and focus; ability to concentrate on a task for extended periods Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs Ability to verify prescription information and labeling accuracy Customer service and team orientation; actively help people in a friendly manner Communication skills; clear verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues Active listening to understand others and ask relevant questions Mathematical reasoning for dispensing calculations and inventory Problem resolution for challenging interactions Physical demands including mobility, lifting up to 20 lbs, standing, and repetitive finger tasks Ability to receive and convey detailed information verbally Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting Benefits and Additional Information Part-time position eligible for a range of benefits including dental and vision, wellness resources, employee discounts and other programs, depending on hours and eligibility.
