Unlock the Power of Communication in the Heart of the North Star State Become a Speech Language Pathologist
Could your next professional adventure help others find their voice? As a Speech Language Pathologist in one of Minneapolis's most dynamic communities, your role transcends mere therapy; it's about illuminating pathways of potential, rekindling self-assurance, and fostering meaningful human connections. You're poised to make a profound impact from young children embarking on their journey of speech to adults aiming to regain daily independence.
This position offers an exceptional chance to work with a broad demographic spectrum in an engaging environment that merges outpatient services with the occasional need for inpatient care. Whether your heart lies in guiding pediatrics through linguistic milestones, assisting adults with brain injuries to communicate, or rehabilitating elderly patients grappling with cognitive challenges, you'll discover both satisfaction and flexibility in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric categories using a variety of standardized assessments and observational strategies.
- Create tailored treatment plans that align with both immediate and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy sessions centered around communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing techniques.
- Work collaboratively with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to develop comprehensive care strategies.
- Educate patients and their families to reinforce progress beyond clinical interactions.
- Participate in occasional inpatient assessments and interventions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care throughout the therapy process.
- Maintain precise and timely documentation consistent with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of developments in the field through regular education initiatives and peer interactions.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited academic institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.
Certifications
- Possession of state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preference for Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first month of employment.
Essential Skills
- Expertise in implementing evidence-based treatment modalities across all age groups, with a solid grasp of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication abilities with patients, families, and multidisciplinary health teams.
- Flexibility to adapt therapy approaches to cater to various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable navigating electronic medical records and adhering to documentation protocols.
Benefits
- Competitive salary reflective of your experience.
- Flexible working hours to promote a healthy work-life balance with diverse patient caseloads.
- Opportunities for specialized focus areas in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.
- Options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Support for ongoing education and professional development.
- A collaborative workspace emphasizing a commitment to quality care and lifelong learning.
Your Next Chapter Awaits Ready to Write It?
In this role, you won't merely deliver speech therapy; you'll become part of a collective mission, dedicated to restoring voices, enhancing communication capabilities, and creating exuberant moments through the most fundamental human interactions: understanding and being understood.
With fellow clinicians who become friends and a team that supports one another's growth, you'll thrive in an environment that champions cooperation over rivalry. Each patient has their own narrative; we trust you to help guide its retelling.
Embrace Life and Work Amidst the Vibrant Twin Cities
Life in Minneapolis resonates with a cadence that harmonizes innovation and welcoming spirit. As you walk through this city of lakes, known for its thriving arts, energetic music scene, and culinary diversity, you'll fall in love with a place that celebrates creativity in every corner, from street artists to acclaimed chefs.
Nature lovers can explore an array of parks, enjoy trails that wind through lush greenery, or experience the serenity of the many lakes that grace the area. Picture weekends filled with farmers' markets, outdoor concerts, and festivals that highlight an array of cultures and communities. The area invites connection, whether it's through the arts or community gatherings, promising a life enriched with experiences and relationships.
For professionals, the benefits extend beyond lifestyle; an absence of state income tax, a reasonable cost of living, and a thriving healthcare network create a fertile ground for career advancement and personal fulfillment.
Whether you're an emerging talent in the field or a seasoned expert ready for new horizons, this is the place where both personal and professional growth can flourish.
Your Ideal Colleague
We're on the hunt for a Speech Language Pathologist who is motivated by not just success metrics, but also a genuine sense of empathy. Someone who perceives the budding self-expression of a shy child, and feels a sense of hope for their future; who hears the faltering words of a stroke survivor, and envisions a story of resilience.
Perhaps you specialize in pediatrics but wish to extend your skills to adult care or vice versa. If you possess a passion for serving with compassion and leading with expertise, we're eager to meet you.
Let's Connect the Words Together
If you believe that speech is far more than mere sound and that therapy goes beyond just tasks; if trust and joy are just as critical as measurable goals in your practice then this could be your next career adventure.
