Purchasing Agent

THIS PROPOSED POSITION IS A HYBRID POSITION. APPLICANTS SHOULD RESIDE IN THE NORFOLK VIRGINIA AREA. RESUMES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2, 2026. 
We are looking for Purchasing and Credentialing Agents to support the Coast Guard's credentialing program. The Purchasing and Credentialing Agent supports efforts to incorporate civilian credentialing opportunities for enlisted personnel in their personal and professional goals. The Purchasing Agent processes tuition assistance, credentialing assistance, and advanced education transactions and provides support to program participants.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, loads, and verifies certifications relevant to Coast Guard specialties;
• Advises clients regarding appropriate/approved career-field related credentials available, along with available funding and support requirements;
• Creates educational goals in Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS), along with approval and funding requests for government-team approval;
• Loads and monitors funding requests and receipts for approved credentialing support;
• Purchases approved civilian/industry credentialing exams, course materials, exam preparation materials, and exam preparation courses through various credentialing agencies and vendors;
• Maintains accurate purchasing documentation and records;
• Additional duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
• Minimum of 3 years’ pertinent experience in automated education management or other personnel management databases;
• DoD-issued Favorable NACLC Investigation is required at start;
• Experience working with the Academic Institution Portal (AIP) and AFAEMS or comparable system, managing maintenance and update of education records;
• Master Training Specialist (MTS) or other military training or education is required;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products;
• Good communication skills.
• Prior military experience preferred
