Role Description The Customs Entry Writer is a full-time role based in Secaucus, NJ in a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site presence with some work-from-home flexibility. This role is responsible for preparing and filing accurate customs entries for imports, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory agencies. Day-to-day tasks include classifying merchandise, verifying documentation, coordinating with carriers and customs brokers, and resolving discrepancies or holds. The Customs Entry Writer will communicate regularly with clients to obtain necessary information, provide shipment updates, and clarify regulatory requirements. The role also involves maintaining detailed records, monitoring regulatory changes, and collaborating with internal operations and accounting teams to ensure timely clearance and delivery of shipments. Qualifications Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import procedures, tariff classification, and duty/tax assessment. Experience preparing and submitting customs entries using relevant software and platforms; familiarity with ACE or similar systems is a plus. Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipment documentation. Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, carriers, customs officials, and internal teams. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple files simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with standard office software tools (e.g., MS Office) and comfort working with digital documentation and data entry. Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, customs brokerage, or international trade preferred. Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, international trade, or a related field is beneficial; industry certifications (e.g., customs brokerage training) are an asset.
