Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Required Skills/Experience: 6N nurses must have 2 years of experience in CCU or a high-end stepdown unit. RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Required Credentials: EKG interpretation class.

Special Requests: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.

Unit Details: The Tele-PCU is divided into three units: Tele I on the 7th and 8th floors, and Tele II on the 6th floor, split into 6 Central and 6 North. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions, CHF, chest pain, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, and sepsis. RNs titrate drips; common drips include Cardizem, amiodarone, and non-titrating dobutamine, while heparin is titrated. Prior titration experience is not required. 6N has ventilated patients; respiratory therapy maintains the vents, and vent experience is not required. All three units have monitor technicians. GE telepacks are used, and 6N has bedside-mounted monitors. Travelers are typically not assigned to the 6th floor.

Shift & Scheduling: Shift times are 645-1915 and 1845-0715. Every other weekend. Candidates must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays; 1 minor holiday is also required. No call. Modified self-scheduling will be granted depending on unit staffing needs.

Floating Requirements: All Telemetry nurses other than 6N nurses will float to Med-Surg or Rehab. 6N nurses will float only to ICU/CCU. Travelers are first to float.
