Position Overview


Snelling is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for an established manufacturing operation in Louisville. This position involves setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision-machined components while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.


The ideal candidate can read blueprints, make machine adjustments, perform inspections, and work independently in a precision manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities


Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or multi-axis machining equipment.


Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and work instructions.


Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding equipment.


Adjust tool offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain part quality and production requirements.


Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.


Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish within specified tolerances.


Complete inspection records and production documentation.


Identify quality issues and report equipment malfunctions or process concerns.


Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area.


Follow all safety procedures and applicable quality and export-control requirements.


Qualifications


High school diploma or equivalent.


2-5 years of CNC machining experience in a job shop or precision manufacturing environment preferred.


Ability to set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes with minimal supervision.


Familiarity with G-code/M-code and CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, or Mazak.


Ability to read blueprints, interpret GD&T, and follow engineering specifications.


Experience using precision measuring instruments and performing dimensional inspections.


Knowledge of machining processes, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds.


Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience is a plus.


Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet production deadlines.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment


Ability to stand for extended periods.


Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.


Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hand tools.


Ability to work around machine noise, cutting fluids, and moving equipment.


Must follow required PPE and workplace safety procedures.


Overtime may be required based on production needs.
