Adventureland Park - Shallow Water Lifeguard - Rehire

The Shallow Water Lifeguard performs lifeguard duties while following all park safety and operating procedures. This position is safety focused and involves a lot of guest interaction and a customer service‑oriented mindset to provide a wonderful experience to everyone who comes to enjoy a day at the park. Responsibilities Perform lifeguard duties while following all park safety and operating procedures Participate in department audits and required in‑service skills training sessions Schedule and adhere to all labor laws regarding required hours Enforce general park, ride/attraction, and safety rules Participate in park clean‑up, including picking up trash, straightening chairs, cleaning pools, stacking tubes, wiping tables, and pressure washing Communicate park information to guests regarding proper attraction procedures, directions, accessibility, and park policies Communicate appropriate park or team‑related concerns to the Leadership Team Keep designated work areas clean and safe of trip hazards Assist with park clean‑up during pre‑ and post‑operations Perform any other duties assigned by leadership Qualifications No education requirements Previous work experience is not required Must successfully complete the Ellis & Afflates Lifeguard Training Program before becoming a lifeguard at Adventureland All lifeguard candidates must obtain the Ellis Lifeguard Certification instructional handbook and pass all certification requirements (50‑yard swim front crawl or breaststroke; retrieve a 10‑lb brick from 5‑ft water) Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus Must be at least 15 years of age to comply with Iowa child‑labor laws Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Demonstrated ability to perform all swim tests, water rescues, and assists Ability to comply with all uniform policies Must possess a safety‑oriented mindset and understand compliance with all federal, state, and local aquatics safety regulations Demonstrated willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions Guest‑focused and works well with other hosts and supervisors Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Physical Requirements Swim 50 yards using front crawl/freestyle or breaststroke Retrieve a 10‑lb brick from at least 5 feet of water Stand or walk for extended periods of time Swim, wade, and stand in moderate currents Frequently kneel, stoop, bend, squat, twist, or reach above shoulder level Use hands to grasp, finger, handle, or feel objects Carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 or more pounds Vision Requirements Must possess 20/25 correct vision (corrective lenses, if required, must be worn while on duty) Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment required Ability to see color differences and brightness variations Ability to see details of objects more than a few feet away Working Conditions Constant exposure to outdoor (or indoor) aquatics environments Exposure to variable temperatures, including high heat, direct sun, cold, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions Regular exposure to water and pool chemicals Frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities Benefits Flexible schedule Cross‑train and learn unique skills across various departments Free admission to Adventureland and select parks on days off Invitations to exclusive company‑sponsored host events throughout the season We are an equal‑opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr 0911 Festival Fun Parks, LLC
