Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30a-5:30p
Our client is seeking a Bilingual Medical Billing & Insurance Assistant (Spanish/English) with experience working in a physician's office or medical practice.
Position Overview
The Medical Billing & Insurance Assistant will support the daily administrative and financial operations of the practice by managing insurance verification, claims processing, patient billing, and front-office communication. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable interacting with both patients and insurance providers in English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Process, submit, and follow up on medical claims.
- Resolve claim denials and billing discrepancies.
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claims status and authorizations.
- Assist patients with billing questions and payment arrangements.
- Maintain accurate patient records within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Obtain prior authorizations as needed.
- Schedule appointments and assist with front desk operations when required.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and office policies.
Qualifications
Required
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office, physician practice, or healthcare setting.
- Experience with medical billing, insurance verification, claims processing, and collections.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding principles.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR and medical practice management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or related certification.
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
- Prior experience in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or specialty practices.
