Learn More About ProSidian Consulting at .Job DescriptionProSidian Seeks a Civil Engineer - Engineering (DA109) (Time and Materials | Exempt Engagement Team - Senior Consultant Level) to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. - DA109 | Prof. This position is located in the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina Area. Civil Engineer - Engineering (DA109) Candidates shall work to support requirements for TBC (Engineering Services) and statement of work (SOW) while maintaining required qualifications Nuclear & Environmental Management Sector. ProSidian Team Members (# FTe's: 1) work as part of the Civil Engineer Engagement Team Cadre to serve as a Civil Engineer responsible for performing a variety of Civil Engineering assignments, including design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse process equipment and systems, and generally as a member of a design, construction, operations, or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments. In addition, support and engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which the US Department of Energy owns.A Civil Engineer, or Licensed Civil Engineer, is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of roads, bridges, waterways, sewage treatment plants and other types of infrastructure. Their duties include using software programs to design structural blueprints, adhering to construction laws and environmental constraints and visiting construction sites to monitor the building process. The Civil Engineer is responsible for designing and supervising infrastructure projects. Under the direct supervision of the Supervising Discipline Engineer, perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation and maintenance as a member of a design, analysis or review team. They ensure each project is feasible by analyzing local and environmental impacts and making sure that they can be completed on time within the budget restrictions.This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients (For Present / Future Requirements), and ProSidian Team Members work as part of an Engagement Team Cadre to fulfill Civil Engineering requirements. A Civil Engineer, or Facilities Civil Engineer, designs, builds, and tests various mechanical devices, like industrial machines, transportation systems, and robotics equipment. In addition, Civil Engineers perform many manufacturing, construction, facility maintenance, scientific and technical tasks related to the process of Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector products/services/deliverables. Some of their typical duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following worksite functionalities (Specific Task Order Performance Work Statements May supersede listed tasks for this role):ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Analyzing survey reports, long-range plans, maps and other data to design new projectsCompleting and submitting all permit applications to the appropriate agencies and ensuring projects are compliant throughout the design and construction stagesConduct site visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.Considering budget, regulations and environmental hazards during risk-analysis stageCoordinate disciplinary actions with Human Resources.Coordinate manpower and resources to execute projects to meet or exceed customers' critical timelines.Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review.Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.Direct daily activities/work load of assigned shops, schedule/execute work orders and PMIs.Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specificationsEnsure personnel remain current with certification, licensing and training requirements.Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.Example functionalities may include work to manage installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of high and low voltage distribution systems, substations, prime power plant, fixed and mobile emergency power generators, manual and automatic transfer switches, central heating plant, Uninterruptible Power Systems, frequency convertors, grounding and lightning protection systems, cathodic protection systems, aircraft arresting systems, airfield lighting systems, fire and security alarm systems, HVAC systems, refrigeration/freezer units, commercial kitchen appliances, package unit boilers, insulation systems, potable and non-potable water distribution, grease interceptors, storm water systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems, stand-pipe, fire hydrants, fire suppression systems and backflow prevention systems.Forecasting design and construction timelineGenerate sections or design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.Interact with foremen, union stewards, division managers, Gov't POCs, and internal/external customers.Managing repair and maintenance of infrastructure projectsOverseeing soil testing to establish soil strength and building feasibilityParticipate in project design reviews and provide feedback on constructability and maintainability.Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks under some supervision.Perform all other position related dutiesPerform Duty Officer functions.Plan and direct new construction/renovations, projects, inspect job sites on a routine basis.Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in process design and review meetings.Prepare/submit materials, tools, parts, PPE purchase requests.Preparing material, equipment and labor cost estimates and confirming costs are within the budgetRead and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.Review, approve and correct timesheets, approve leave requests, training/travel reimbursements.Using design software to create project drawings and To earn the PE licensure, candidates should have a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Civil Engineering and Technology (ABET) and experience working under the supervision of a licensed Civil Engineer.In-depth knowledge using AutoCAD with Civil 3D utility and surface models.Lead in a Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector maintenance organization within a DOE facility.Minimum of 10 years of experience in the nuclear field and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent.US Citizen (dual citizenship is not allowed).Working knowledge and expertise in Excel, and Word.Working knowledge designing site drainage and storm water control systems.Working knowledge of drawing production and checking, approval, revision, retention, and storage of engineering drawings.Working knowledge of MicroStation using Openroads.Working knowledge of regulatory codes and standards.Working knowledge of the design of underground utilities.Working knowledge of the process of preparing and checking calculations, as well as approval, revision, retention, and storage of project calculations.Working knowledge with commercially available hydraulic and hydrology software.U.S. Citizenship Required - You must be a United States CitizenExcellent oral and written communication skills (This employer participates in the e-Verify program)Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a "Facility Access Authorization" (also referred to as an "Employment Authorization") by the USG's designated Security Office.Other Requirements and Conditions of Employment ApplyMay be required to complete a Financial Disclosure StatementMust be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance.3.6 Personnel Qualifications/Certifications --- all personnel shall have demonstrated experience in Nuclear Safety, Criticality, Radiological Engineering, Health Physics, Fire Protection, or Engineering Technical Support. These individuals must have U.S. citizenship and the ability to maintain DOE site access. 3.6.1 Nuclear and Criticality Safety --- IMC Contractor/SRS or other DOE complex experience is preferred.Criticality personnel are required to obtain or have SRS Nuclear Criticality Safety qualifications (e.g., Criticality Safety Engineer (CSE), Senior Criticality Safety Engineer (SCSE), Criticality Safety Officer (CSO), Associate Criticality Safety Engineer (ACSE)).Radiological Engineering and Health Physics personnel are required to achieve/maintain applicable SRS qualifications. 3.6.2 Fire Protection: Fire protection personnel shall be ---1. Registered professional engineer in an engineering discipline that encompasses the scope of work being performed. Or2. Certified National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III in the applicable NICET subfield for the subject fire protection system (i.e., water-based systems layout, fire alarm systems, inspection and testing of water-based systems, special hazards suppressionsystems, or special hazards suppression systems, or special hazards systems).Or3. Manufacturer/Factory trained and certified for the subject fire protection systems/feature. Or4. Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum with a minimum of four (4) years of engineering practice, three (3) of which are in design that encompasses the subject fire protection system.3.6.3 Engineering Technical Support --- IMC Contractor/SRS or other DOE complex experience is preferred.TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements. Travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, as allowed, in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.LOCATION: Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Savannah River Site / Aiken, South CarolinaWORK HOURS: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRS holidays.
