As a leader in pediatric rehabilitation and behavioral health services, our Dallas campus provides: ICU step-down, neurobehavioral, and rehabilitation units for a seamless continuum of care A state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym and structured therapeutic activity spaces An interdisciplinary care environment where rehabilitation, nursing, medical, and behavioral teams work closely together Position Summary The Rehabilitation Technician supports licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists in providing rehabilitation services to pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental, medical, and behavioral complexities. This role assists with therapy sessions, patient transport and positioning, treatment‑area preparation, equipment maintenance, structured therapeutic activities, and documentation of patient participation. The Rehabilitation Technician helps create a safe, organized, and encouraging environment while working closely with the interdisciplinary team to support each patient’s rehabilitation goals. Key Responsibilities Assist licensed therapists with individualized rehabilitation sessions and delegated, non‑skilled patient care activities. Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas according to infection‑control and safety standards. Transport, position, and support patients safely before, during, and after therapy sessions. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, mobility activities, structured tasks, and cognitive rehabilitation activities under therapist supervision. Monitor patient participation and responses during therapy and promptly report observations or concerns to the supervising clinician. Accurately document patient participation and assigned activities according to hospital and regulatory standards. Support the rehabilitation team in carrying out individualized care plans for patients with medical, developmental, cognitive, and behavioral needs. Encourage patient comfort, engagement, independence, and emotional well‑being throughout treatment. Reinforce therapist‑provided education related to therapy goals, assistive devices, and home exercise activities. Maintain therapy supplies, assist with inventory, and support the safe and cost‑effective use of rehabilitation equipment. Participate in infection‑control education, emergency preparedness, incident reporting, quality improvement, and annual competency training. Communicate professionally with patients, families, therapists, nursing staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Rehabilitation Therapy Technician Certificate Program preferred. Coursework in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, or therapeutic modalities preferred. At least one year of experience in a rehabilitation or behavioral health setting preferred. Experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury, or other neurodevelopmental conditions is highly desirable. Ability to assist with therapeutic exercises, mobility, positioning, and patient transport. Basic computer and electronic health record skills required. Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and observation skills. Knowledge of cognitive or behavioral intervention strategies preferred. Must be comfortable working with pediatric patients who may have physical limitations, cognitive deficits, medical needs, or behavioral challenges. Rehabilitation Therapy Technician certification through AECA or an equivalent organization preferred. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required and must remain valid for at least six months from the date of hire. De‑escalation training is required within 30 days of hire. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and assist with patient transfers throughout the workday. Ability to safely lift, transfer, or move patients weighing up to 50–100 pounds independently, with assistive equipment, or with help from team members. Ability to work effectively in a busy clinical environment with multiple priorities, interruptions, equipment, and patient‑care demands. Why Join Nexus – Dallas?
