Contract Length: 13 weeks

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to assist Cardiologists with invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac, vascular, and electrophysiology (EP) procedures . The technologist will provide technical support, hemodynamic monitoring, procedural setup, patient care, equipment operation, and interpretation of procedural results while maintaining a high standard of patient safety and aseptic technique.

 

Responsibilities:

• Assist Cardiologists with invasive coronary, vascular, and electrophysiology diagnostic and interventional procedures .
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring, data collection, and procedural result interpretation .
• Set up and operate electrical, imaging, physiologic monitoring, and computer equipment .
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field , including sterile table setup and appropriate procedural supplies.
• Assist with passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices using proper aseptic technique.
• Prepare and drape patients according to established procedures and standards.
• Operate monophasic and biphasic defibrillators .
• Recognize and assist with treatment of complications arising during cardiac, vascular, and EP procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and assist with moderate sedation according to policy and protocol.
• Accurately interpret EKGs and cardiac arrhythmias and promptly alert physicians to abnormal activity.
• Assist with anesthesia needs for deeply sedated or anesthetized patients.
• Select appropriate procedural supplies and equipment based on procedural findings.
• Maintain knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, EP concepts, and fluoroscopic anatomy .
• Follow radiation safety practices and properly operate imaging equipment.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization and maintain appropriate infection-control practices.
• Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot equipment or supply issues as needed.
• Manage the digital archiving system , including retrieving archived images and creating CDs for transmission of patient information.
• Document patient care, observations, procedural findings, and significant reactions accurately.
• Collaborate with Cardiologists, nurses, anesthesia staff, research personnel, vendors, and other healthcare providers.
• Help train and mentor team members while maintaining professional communication and teamwork.
• Maintain current knowledge and competency as equipment, technology, and procedures evolve.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience in invasive cardiology/cardiac catheterization.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Hemodynamic concepts
  • Cardiac anatomy and physiology
  • Cardiac/vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • EP concepts, theory, and fluoroscopic anatomy
  • Moderate sedation administration
  • Invasive Cardiology routines
• Advanced EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition/analysis .
• Knowledge of physiologic monitoring equipment and procedural equipment.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and imaging equipment .
• Ability to recognize and respond to complications during cardiac/vascular/EP procedures.
• Proficient in complete procedural setup and sterile technique.
• Strong communication, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.

Education:

One of the following required:

• Associate degree in a related field, OR
• Certificate of Completion from an accredited Radiology Program .

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Illinois IEMA Radiologic Technologist License
• ARRT – Radiography (RT)
• BLS – American Heart Association
• ACLS – American Heart Association
