Grease Room Operator

Description

Safely and effectively unload and process grease barrels, process grease tanks, unload bulk grease

trucks and vacuum trucks. This is a second shift position.

Compensation and Benefits

• $28.68 per hour salary per year

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive forklift and/or other manual driven vehicles within the plant yard
• Clean/wash work area, machines or equipment throughout the plant
• Shovel loose material into hoppers or trash hoppers
• Remove trash from plant, locker room and surrounding area
• Clean cooking processing equipment (cookers, augers, process tanks, tankers)
• Paint equipment, as necessary
• Operate process equipment as instructed
• Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
• Follow department and company procedures
• Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company
• Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time as business needs evolve over time.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Prior forklift experience preferred
• Previous experience in a production setting preferred
• Must be able to stand unassisted throughout the employee's normal shift
• Must be able to climb and not be afraid of heights
• Able to work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work around Steam driven machinery.
• Employees are exposed to used cooking oil, raw animal parts.
• Must be able to frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push and or pull up to 60 pounds
• Less than 5% travel requirement

Physical Demands/Requirements (COPIED FROM LABORER JD):

Constantly (over 2/3):

• Move and transport materials up to 50-100 lbs with or without specialized lifting, moving and rigging equipment
• Moves across wet/slippery and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to position self to perform duties around industrial equipment and materials that are hot or hazardous chemical materials

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

• Exposed to work in outdoor weather conditions
• Ascends/descends heights while maintaining balance
• Utilizes tools and equipment such as a shovel to move material
• Remains in a seated position while using multilimb coordination to operate forklift or other mechanical equipment

Occasionally (under 1/3):

• Detect and observe conditions that need to be addressed such as equipment that needs to be painted or materials that need to be moved/removed
• Electronically and manually completes logs/reports
• Communicates with staff in the process of performing duties
