Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Open Heart Progressive Care)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Weekdays, every other weekend required | 36 or 48-hour contract options available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide progressive cardiac care for post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in a 29-bed unit
• Assist with, manage, and support removal of chest tubes; maintain central line care in accordance with facility protocols
• Operate and monitor external and internal pacemakers; utilize wound vac therapy as indicated
• Maintain a 4:1 patient ratio, ensuring safe and effective care delivery
• Accept Med/Surg overflow patients as needed to support unit census
• Float within scope of practice to other areas of the facility as needed to meet operational needs

Required Qualifications

• Active WV RN license in hand at time of submission (Compact license also accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required — must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Demonstrated experience with chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal
• Central line experience required; external/internal pacemaker and wound vac experience required
• Must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; candidates residing 75–100 miles away may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
• Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions must be documented
• Minimum of 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required at time of submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a progressive care, step-down, or cardiac surgical unit
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system
• Experience working in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment
