About the Work Unit

The Region 4 Storeroom located in Platteville, Colorado provides support and materials to maintenance and traffic employees in the Region. The storeroom provides supplies for vehicle repair, safety, road maintenance, traffic, snow removal, building supplies and other maintenance materials. About this Position

There are currently two vacant Materials Handler II part-time positions that will receive and distribute supplies to support a safe and efficient transportation system. These positions will assist in receiving, storing, and issuing a wide variety of supplies and materials to ensure the continued operation of the Region.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform stock room maintenance, which includes maintaining cleanliness of stockroom and outside area, sweeping, organizing materials, using a forklift to receive and load materials and keeping the floors clear of debris and clutter.
• Maintain inventory on incoming and outgoing items, including checking orders for accuracy, using computer programs to accurately track inventory levels, checking stock levels daily, performing in-depth inventory once a year, recommending new products, maintaining stock levels and inputting information into computer program for Materials Resource Planning, which then helps to maintain the proper number of supplies.
• Manage supply orders, which includes following procurement rules and price agreements when ordering materials, following direction on what materials to order and when, assisting in processing reservations through SAP system, reviewing reservations, pulling items, and placing them in will call, working with maintenance customers when filling orders, checking outgoing orders for accuracy, getting supply order ready for pick-up, processing emergency orders and offering substitutions where needed.
• Receive supply orders that come through the stock room, including receiving materials, checking materials against invoice and packing lists, identifying discrepancies, stocking shelves, inputting information into SAP to update inventory levels based on counts and goods receipt and sending in invoices to be paid.
• Maintain and improve knowledge of products.
• Abide by all safety regulations, policies and procedures, including wearing all required personal protective equipment.
• Discuss safety issues with co-workers and supervisor.
• Other job duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

• Primarily 7:00 am 3:30 pm work hours; 1 position will be from Monday-Thursday; 1 position Tuesday -Friday
• May be required to work weekends, nights, and holidays during emergencies
• Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare
• Approximately 75% is spent in the warehouse which 25% will be on a computer
• Travel required during work hours throughout the region
• Occasional overnight travel 1-3 times a year throughout Colorado
• Required to operate CDOT vehicles
• Required to lift items 20-50 lbs. regularly and sometimes in excess of 100 lbs. (40 lbs. is the maximum checked luggage weight on airlines)
• Required to be on ladders up to heights of 10'
• This position may be in close proximity to moving and mechanical parts
• May be exposed to a number of weather conditions during shipping and receiving, as well possibly being exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, dust, odors, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only

• At least two years of materials handling experience which includes receiving, storing and/or issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment.

OR Education and Experience

• A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to two years.
  • Education from an accredited college or university with coursework in accounting, business administration, or another field of study related to the duties of this position will be considered.
  • Materials handling experience which includes receiving, storing, and/or issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment will be considered.

Conditions of Employment

• A current valid driver's license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
• New employees are required to attend two weeks of maintenance training in Aurora, while veteran CDOT employees are required to attend training one week out of each year in Aurora.
