CA District Support Pharmacist

Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health, the District Support Pharmacist (DSP) cultivates a culture of excellence in each pharmacy. Acting as a role model, the DSP supports pharmacy teams across the district by covering pharmacist scheduling gaps and managing day‑to‑day operations under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. Responsibilities Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Oversee safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by guiding the pharmacy team through workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the sole or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Deliver compassionate patient care, coach staff in empathy, and resolve insurance or medication issues proactively. Provide immunizations, train Pharmacy Technicians to immunize, and promote immunization coverage. Manage inventory best practices, focusing on protecting cold‑chain products. Maintain flexible scheduling and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Keep clinical and technical skills current through required training, CMEs, and ongoing education. Support pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permitted. Comply with all federal, state, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance guidelines and patient privacy. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support staffing needs. Maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Concentrate on tasks, pivot between tasks quickly, and confirm prescription accuracy. Provide friendly customer service and demonstrate active listening. Use mathematical reasoning for dispensing calculations. Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions. Physical Demands Be mobile, lift and carry items up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive hand movements. Reach overhead, stretch, stoop, and move items between low and high positions. Maintain close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing or reading small parts. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state of the store. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Pay & Benefits Anticipated Weekly Hours: 40 Full‑time position Pay Range: $65.00 – $81.00 per hour (base salary varies by experience, education, and location).
