Plasma Center Paramedic - EMT-P

Job Description During daily operations the Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and performs duties to support plasma center operations, including determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational matters and under the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations or a manufacturing environment is required, as is adherence to BioLife Medical Affairs guidance and environmental, health and safety (EHS) responsibilities. How you will contribute Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis. Evaluate donor reactions that occur at the facility according to SOPs, including medical emergencies, development of the Center Physician's standing orders, and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer unacceptable findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility. Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance for employee incidents. Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of pandemic threats within the local community. What you bring to Takeda High‑school diploma or equivalent, including graduate‑level equivalency in a recognized nursing program with state requirements. Current state license or certification for the responsibilities, such as EMT‑Paramedic. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy. Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two or more years in a clinical or hospital setting.
