Job Summary and Responsibilities As a vascular technologist, you are responsible for performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound. You will operate ultrasound equipment to provide and document accurate and quality sonographic studies of normal and abnormal anatomy. You will perform ultrasound exams including abdominal, OB, GYN, small parts, prostate, and vascular scans. You will demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Identify upper/lower extremity venous anatomy, extra cranial and intracranial anatomy, upper/lower extremity arterial anatomy and collateral venous pathways in the presence of disease. Perform upper/lower extremity venous duplex protocol for DVT or venous insufficiency, carotid duplex exam protocol, and protocol for upper/lower extremity arterial flow exam. Produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Relay patient information to the radiologist. Complete required documentation on forms, logs, and in computer. Label images and identify according to protocol. Obtain all pertinent patient history and relay it to the radiologist to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Review written orders, assess patient identification and ensure indicators are appropriate prior to procedure. Clean exam tables and restock ultrasound supplies as needed. Sterilize trans‑vaginal transducer according to established protocol. Complete charge processing for individual patient care items, drugs and exams. Qualifications One year experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer. One year experience as a radiologic technologist – preferred. Completion of a two‑year allied health education program that is patient‑care related or graduate of a program accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), United States Department of Education (USDOE) or Canadian Medical Association (CMA) that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography/diagnostic cardiac/vascular technology. Associate degree or higher in a related technological field – preferred. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credentials with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). BLS certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy. Registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), post‑primary certification in sonography – preferred.
