Physician Assistant, Vascular Surgery, (Greenbrae), Full-Time, Days

Overview Vascular Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) is an advanced practice provider who delivers comprehensive perioperative care to patients with vascular disease. Working closely with vascular surgeons and the multidisciplinary team, the PA is responsible for patient assessment, surgical assisting and longitudinal management. The PA will perform pre‑operative evaluations, assist in open and endovascular procedures, coordinate post‑operative care, and manage patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities Perform pre‑operative assessments and complete vascular physical exams. Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide warfarin management guidance. Assist in all open and endovascular vascular surgeries. Provide wound care and minor office procedures (sclerotherapy, catheter removal, debridement). Coordinate post‑operative care, patient education, and workflow in the peri‑operative setting. Participate in clinical research projects and staff education. Maintain vascular databases (VQI and others) and document care in Apex within 48 hours. Formulate and implement protocols to improve practice efficiency. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members via phone, in‑person and electronic modalities. Perform other duties specified in the Scope and Setting of Practice. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program. Completion of a surgical residency preferred; 2‑5 years of PA experience preferred; new graduates considered if motivated. Prior wound care and/or minor office procedures experience beneficial. Active California PA license. National board certification (NCCPA) by first day of work and upon renewal. Active California transferable DEA license. CMS Medicare and Medicaid payer enrollment eligibility. Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications. Physical Demands Shift length typically 8–12 hours; work primarily in standing, walking, and sitting roles. Lift loads between 1–100 lbs frequently; heavy or very heavy loads occasionally during assistance with patient transfers. Reaching, stooping, bending, twisting, and other physical tasks are frequent. Requires excellent vision, color discrimination, hearing, and verbal communication.
