Metals Research Engineer

Job Overview Genex Systems is seeking a Metals Research Engineer responsible for planning and conducting structural research projects for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) at the Turner‑Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC). Key Responsibilities Plan and conduct structural research projects focused on metals used in bridge design, rating, and construction. Perform research using digital‑to‑analog data acquisition, sensor selection and wiring (strain gauges, accelerometers, tiltmeters, potentiometers, linear variable differential transducers, extensometers, and load cells). Set up and operate closed‑loop servovalve‑controlled hydraulic systems, design loading structures, digital image correlation, metallography, fractography. Conduct common metallic property characterization tests (ASTM E8, E9, E18, E23, E399, E1820, E1921, F606). Write publication‑ready research reports and present at demonstration projects, seminars, committee meetings, and workshops. Preferred Experience Experience with additive manufacturing of metal materials. Qualifications Master's degree required.
