Radiologic Technologist

We are looking for dedicated and experienced Radiology Technologist in the Fairfax and Ashburn area to work in children's specialties including Inova Children's Hematology/Oncology, Inova Children's Pulmonology, Inova Children's Gastroenterology, Inova Children's Neurology and Inova Children's Orthopedics & Sports Medicine These roles will be full-time, day shift with varying hours from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. The Radiologic Technologist provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards and acts as a resource to radiography students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions. Administers sound patient care practice according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure the safety of patients. Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines. Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations while demonstrating the initiative for self-development to ensure the proficiency of staff with new technological changes. Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, theory, anatomy and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations. Adheres to department policies and protocols by ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation. Confidently operates radiological equipment in all care settings (i.e. fluoroscopy, trauma, Emergency department and the Operating Room). Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with collimation devices and protective shielding. Operates Imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturers' specifications. Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast under the American College of Radiology guidelines. Assists in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles. Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients' and/or patients' charts to assist physicians in optimizing the performance and interpretation of examinations. Explains procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation. Correctly identifies patients and their files while ensuring a high degree of accuracy. Tracks patients according to department procedures. Assists physicians in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques. Recognizes clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes. Minimum Requirements: Education: Graduate of accredited school/program of radiography Licensure: ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist within 12 months of hire Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association. Experience : One year of combined classroom and clinical training in radiology. Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist or student Preferred Qualifications: Previous Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) work experience Additional Details: Application deadline: this position will remain posted for 30 days from the original posting date.
