Jim Brangham Auto Repair is looking for a dependable and motivated Lube Technician / Automotive Apprentice & Shop Assistant who wants to learn from experienced automotive professionals while helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop.

This is a hands-on, entry-level opportunity for someone interested in becoming an automotive technician. The position includes performing routine vehicle maintenance, assisting experienced technicians, learning automotive repair procedures, and spending a portion of each day cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the shop.

Automotive experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person who is dependable, willing to work hard, follows directions, and has a genuine interest in learning the automotive trade.

Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position. Our team and customers depend on every employee arriving on time and ready to work for each scheduled shift.

No large investment in tools is required—we provide the tools needed for this position.

Automotive Responsibilities:

• Perform oil and filter changes.
• Rotate and balance tires; training is available if needed.
• Check and adjust tire pressures.
• Perform Digital Vehicle Inspections using our inspection software.
• Inspect brakes, suspension, steering, fluids, belts, hoses, batteries, and tires.
• Take clear inspection photos and accurately document vehicle conditions.
• Assist experienced technicians with repairs and other assigned work.
• Learn proper automotive service and repair procedures.
• Move customer vehicles safely as needed.
• Follow all shop procedures and safety requirements.
• Ask questions when unsure and be willing to learn from experienced technicians.

Shop Assistant & Maintenance Responsibilities:

A portion of each workday will be dedicated to helping maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional shop environment.

Responsibilities may include:

• Sweep and clean shop floors and work areas.
• Clean and organize shop equipment and common areas.
• Empty trash and properly dispose of shop materials.
• Help keep tools, supplies, and equipment organized.
• Restock commonly used shop supplies.
• Clean spills promptly and help maintain safe walkways.
• Assist with general shop organization.
• Help keep the exterior work areas clean and professional.
• Support technicians and other team members as needed.
• Look for productive ways to help when assigned work is complete.

Maintaining the shop is an important part of this position and helps create a safe, efficient, and professional environment for our employees and customers.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old due to company vehicle insurance requirements.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to reliable attendance.
• Able to arrive on time and ready to work for every scheduled shift
• Honest, responsible, and willing to work hard.
• Able to listen, follow directions, and accept coaching and constructive feedback.
• Willing to learn new skills and follow established shop procedures.
• Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
• Willing to perform both automotive and shop cleaning responsibilities.
• Comfortable using a tablet or smartphone to complete Digital Vehicle Inspections.
• Automotive experience is helpful but not required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is preferred.
• Able to safely perform the physical responsibilities of the position.
