About the unit

The Grand Haven Ambulatory Surgical Center is a one operating room and one Endoscopy suite facility. We have six pre/post endoscopy rooms, 12 Pre/post OR rooms, and eight PACU bays. Our outpatient surgical center has Endoscopies, such as Esophagogastroduodenoscopies, and Colonoscopies. We also have services with orthopedic, ENT, general surgery, pain, and gynecological. This outpatient surgical center does not have a hospital attached all the surgeries are outpatient. We do not have weekend or night hours. This surgical unit is a great place to advance your assessment skills, work as a team, and be flexible in your assignments. Our team is highly engaged in patient and staff safety while maintaining high patient satisfaction scores. We are a team that works well together and adapts to change well.

About Outpatient Sites

There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.

Scope of work

The Registered Nurse, Procedural possesses advanced education in administering patient sedation and/or monitoring of patient post sedation or anesthesia. The Registered Nurse, Procedural utilizes extensive patient assessment skills, collaborates with all healthcare team members to ensure the most optimal patient outcome. Performs all activities at an expanded level of nursing practice executed within the context of the nursing process. Maintains education in ACLS and/or Sedation allowing them to safely care for patients that are "at risk" due to sedation/anesthesia and procedure. If working with Pediatric population, will also obtain PALS training. If working in the Intra-op area the Registered Nurse, Procedural maintains a high level of expertise in the cases they assist with. The Registered Nurse, Procedural perioperative nurse is an RN who plans, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates nursing care for patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised during operative or other invasive procedures.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
• 1+ years of OR circulator or procedural RN Experience preferred
