Job DescriptionThe Diagnostic Technologist Mammography performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.The Diagnostic Technologist Mammography performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates the ability to perform the identified and required for department specific role as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.WORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk and communicate and interface with computer based applications. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.The department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPThis position reports to the Radiology Manager. This position takes direction from the Lead Diagnostic Technologist. Credentialed under ARRT for (R) and (M).NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially as an essential work requirement. ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed annually as an essential work requirement.EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast paced environment.
