Ultrasound Tech - Float Pool

Primary City/State: John C Lincoln - 50 E Dunlap Ave Phoenix, AZ 85020 Category: Imaging Shift: Day Department: Network Diagnostic Imaging Float Pool: PRN; reqs 12 shifts per quarter, one winter holiday, one summer holiday, and one difficult to staff day. Must float to at least three HonorHealth locations. Responsibilities Under the direction of a radiologist, this Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Assumes responsibility for tasks or procedures as assigned. Performs data entry operations using appropriate hospital software package. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the network. Performs ultrasound techniques and examinations including, but not limited to, abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, selecting proper technical factors on a patient basis and observing patient during procedure to ensure safety and comfort. Transports patient to and from exam room/table, prepares and maintains room. Acquires digital images and evaluates for technical quality. Assists physician in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications. Assists in coordination of daily workflow for the department’s activities. Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates. Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed. Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe environment of patients and staff in assigned area. Maintains stock and inventory as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Education High School Diploma or GED Required. Other/Certificate Graduation from an accredited program for diagnostic medical sonography Preferred. Associates Preferred. Experience 6 months clinical ultrasound experience (inclusive of education) Required. License and Certifications Sonography Principles & Instrumentation – Certificate American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) eligible. Includes passing SPI exam (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Exam) or ARRT Sonography certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certification. Current and valid Basic Life Support Certification at the time of hire. ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Certification. If ARRT when hired, ARDMS SPI credentialed 180 days required. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – License or RVT credentialed.
