Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI Standards and Standards Development Organization (SDO) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support AI standards development, coordination, and analysis initiatives related to trustworthy AI and AI risk management frameworks. This role will support engagement with domestic and international standards organizations, conduct standards analysis activities, and help align AI governance and risk management efforts with evolving industry and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience working within standards-focused environments and a deep understanding of AI governance, trustworthy AI principles, and standards ecosystems impacting artificial intelligence technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Support AI standards development, coordination, and analysis activities across domestic and international standards organizations
• Engage with Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), industry groups, government stakeholders, and technical teams
• Conduct standards landscape assessments and gap analyses related to AI technologies, governance, and risk management
• Develop standards alignment materials, technical summaries, and briefing documents
• Analyze the impact of emerging AI standards and frameworks on organizational or program objectives
• Support initiatives related to trustworthy AI, responsible AI, and AI risk management frameworks
• Track evolving AI standards, policies, and regulatory developments
• Prepare reports, presentations, recommendations, and stakeholder communications related to AI standards activities

Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience supporting AI standards development, coordination, analysis, or related standards-focused activities
• Experience engaging with domestic or international Standards Development Organizations (SDOs)
• Experience conducting standards landscape reviews, gap analyses, or alignment assessments
• Strong understanding of trustworthy AI principles and AI risk management frameworks
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to synthesize complex technical and standards-related information into actionable guidance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Federal Government standards or policy initiatives
• Familiarity with AI-related standards and frameworks developed by organizations such as National Institute of Standards and Technology, ISO, IEC, IEEE, or other international SDOs
• Experience supporting AI governance, policy, or compliance-related programs
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Public Policy, Cybersecurity, or a related field

Qualifications
