Psychiatrist

Location: Middletown, CT Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to a young adult population ranging from 18 to 26 years of age . The Psychiatrist will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, manage medications, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary behavioral health team to support each patient's mental health and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience working with adolescents, young adults, or individuals with complex behavioral health needs and will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a patient-centered approach. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments of young adult patients. Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions. Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient's clinical needs. Provide ongoing psychiatric follow-up and monitor patient progress. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and make adjustments as clinically appropriate. Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and clinical standards. Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and potential interactions. Provide crisis assessment and intervention when necessary. Assess patient safety and identify changes in mental or emotional status that require immediate attention. Collaborate with nurses, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Participate in treatment planning meetings and communicate clinical recommendations effectively. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation. Communicate with patients and appropriate members of the treatment team regarding diagnosis, treatment options, progress, and discharge planning. Provide education to patients regarding medications, treatment plans, coping strategies, and available behavioral health resources. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while creating a supportive and therapeutic environment. Follow all applicable federal and state regulations, clinical standards, and organizational policies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other clinical or administrative meetings as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program. Active Connecticut medical license or eligibility for Connecticut licensure. Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry preferred. Current DEA registration, as applicable. Experience providing psychiatric care to adolescents, young adults, or adults preferred. Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management. Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.
