About the Role:

Orphanides & Co is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join their team in Whitestone, NY. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate client books, categorize transactions, journal entries, and general ledger accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and compliance documentation
• Assist with sales tax return preparation and filings
• Support partnership, corporate, trust, and estate tax engagements
• Gatjer client documents, follow up on missing information, and maintain organized workpapers
• Collaborate with senior accountants and partners on audits and special projects

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel, or similar platforms)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
