The Opportunity

Nymbus is seeking a Business Intelligence Architect to lead the data warehouse and reporting transformation for a key financial institution client currently operating on a Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse platform (SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS). This role will serve as the technical lead guiding the client's migration from its existing Microsoft stack to a modern data platform built on Snowflake (database) and Sigma (analytics and reporting).

The Business Intelligence Architect will maintain and support the client's existing SQL Server-based data warehouse and reporting environment while simultaneously designing, building, and migrating data models, ETL pipelines, and reports to Snowflake and Sigma.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role requiring strong data modeling, database development, and BI/reporting expertise, along with the ability to translate an existing Microsoft-based architecture into an equivalent (and improved) design on the new platform.  

You will work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional partners (including data engineering, product, and client stakeholders) to deliver a well documented, low-disruption transition from the legacy stack to Snowflake and Sigma, while keeping existing reporting and data operations running smoothly throughout the migration. 

What You Will Own

Legacy Platform Support & Data Architecture

• Understand database design methodologies and assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data models using data modeling tools (Sparx, Oxygen, Altova, Erwin, etc.).
• Develop and document ETL data flows using SSIS, PowerShell, PowerPoint, Visio, and T-SQL to support the client's existing SQL Server environment.
• Use the Microsoft technology stack (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) to support application and operations systems throughout the transition period.
• Create new and manage existing reports, dashboards, and agents in the Business Intelligence system (SSRS) to ensure timely and accurate data reporting for use by bank managers for decision-making purposes.  

Snowflake & Sigma Migration Leadership 

• Serve as the lead technical architect for converting the client's data warehouse and reporting environment from SQL Server/SSIS/SSRS to Snowflake and Sigma.
• Design target-state data models in Snowflake that faithfully translate (and where appropriate, improve upon) the client's existing SQL Server schemas and data relationships.
• Re-engineer existing SSIS-based ETL data flows into Snowflake-native ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Rebuild existing SSRS reports and dashboards as equivalent Sigma workbooks and reports, validating parity in logic, output, and accuracy against the legacy versions.
• Document source-to-target mappings for both data integration and report output (covering mappings from SQL Server to Snowflake and from SSRS to Sigma) in a form that reporting team members and client stakeholders can easily understand. 
• Sequence and coordinate the migration to minimize disruption to the client's ongoing reporting and data operations, including planning cutover phases and parallel-run validation. 

Collaboration, Communication & Support 

• Communicate proactively with team members and client stakeholders about potential system issues, migration risk, and status. Support off-hours upgrade and/or migration work when necessary.
• Actively participate in data and application development peer reviews, interdepartmental requirements-gathering sessions, troubleshooting, and project support.
• Identify data inconsistencies, anomalies, and scripting issues to support increasing overall system performance through code/script reviews, and develop and implement recommendations accordingly.
• Ensure end-user issues are identified, tracked, reported on, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Complete all yearly compliance training and testing, and comply with bank, Federal,and State regulations. Adhere to departmental and bank-wide service standards. 

What You Will Bring

Required Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience for this role.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in a traditional financial institution (bank or credit union). 
• Excellent attention to detail, data accuracy, and quality of output.
• Proficient in the areas of statistics, finance, and retail and commercial banking business concepts.
• Passion to self-educate and stay current on the latest analytics and data platform trends in marketing, banking, and other fields, including modern cloud data warehousing and BI tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate effectively in forums and meetings with technical and non-technical teams, and to explain migration decisions and trade-offs clearly to client stakeholders.
• Ability to provide clear and concise project documentation to various stakeholders, including source-to-target mapping and migration plans.
• Strong time management skills, with proficiency in prioritizing, scheduling, and managing multiple project schedules and differing levels of criticality across legacy support and migration work. 
• Proficient in the Microsoft Development and Office Suite.
• Proficient in the areas of application development (programming), database and system/application design. Knowledge of legacy and web-based systems and intrinsic interfaces (WebAPI, TCP, UDP, Database, etc.). 
• Legacy platform: SQL Server; SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
• Target platform: Snowflake; Sigma. 
• Visio, Lucid.
• Data modeling: Sparx, Oxygen, Altova, Erwin, SQL Developer (Oracle), SQL Data Modeler (Oracle). 
• Reporting and Integration frameworks: Sigma, Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, SSIS.
• Visual Studio VB and/or C# — software development (Web, WinForm, Services, API, WebAPI).

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range: $135,000 to $150,000 annually
