CMM Programmer

CMM ProgrammerLocation: Elk Grove Village, IL, US, 60007Summary The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs to inspect manufactured components and verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality requirements. This position works closely with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production personnel to identify dimensional issues, support process improvements, and ensure products meet established quality standards.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop, write, modify, and maintain CMM programs for dimensional inspection of manufactured components.Set up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines and related inspection equipment.Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and 3D CAD models.Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles when developing inspection programs and evaluating components.Perform first-piece, in-process, final, and other dimensional inspections as required.Analyze CMM inspection results and clearly communicate dimensional or quality concerns to appropriate personnel.Generate, review, and maintain accurate inspection reports and measurement records.Troubleshoot CMM programming, setup, probing, and measurement issues.Determine appropriate inspection methods, probe configurations, alignments, and measurement strategies.Support First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, capability studies, and other customer or quality documentation as required.Work with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to investigate dimensional nonconformances and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.Assist Production with troubleshooting manufacturing processes when dimensional concerns are identified.Maintain CMM programs and inspection documentation in accordance with document-control requirements.Ensure measuring equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with established procedures.Support continuous improvement activities designed to improve product quality, inspection efficiency, and manufacturing processes.Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Previous experience of 5 years in manufacturing environment.Technical Skills/Physical Requirements Previous experience programming and operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with applicable CMM programming software. Experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar software preferred. Strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection principles. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models. Knowledge of precision measurement equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools. Understanding of manufacturing processes and their relationship to dimensional quality. Travel - negligiblePay band for this position is $35.00 to $39.00 per hour based on experience/education
