Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Current nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Positive attitude with a focus on teamwork for a fast-paced, quick-turnover unit. - Recent experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Step-Down/ Progressive Care Unit settings. Description: This unit cares for a variety of patients with different diagnoses. The primary goal is to receive admitted patients, complete admission assessments, and initiate acute care orders. The focus is on reducing overall length of stay and enhancing the patient and family experience. The staff typically consists of a free charge and 1-2 CNAs based on volume, day and night. Patient ratios are 1:5 for Step-Down, 1:6 for Medical-Surgical, and 1:5 if combined day and night. A wide range of advanced skills is appreciated, including charge nurse experience or willingness to consider. Minimal bedside procedures are performed due to the unit environment. The unit expects nurses to float to other units within their skill set as needed. There are additional opportunities in Telemetry and as ED Transport Nurses. Telemetry nurses oversee safety and escalate clinical issues to ensure timely placement on telemetry. ED Transport Nurses assist with moving higher acuity patients from the emergency department to specialized inpatient units. This enables the emergency department nurse to remain and provide ongoing care. Nurses on this unit may request an extension due to positive experiences and tenure. The unit emphasizes patient safety and quality care above all.
