Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of a CT Maintenance Supervisor or Leadworker, the CT Highway Maintenance Worker performs miscellaneous labor while performing the duties associated with the maintaining the State Highway System. Incumbent will be responsible for the general maintenance of the roadside vegetation, landscape and trees. The incumbent must possess a Class C Driver's License. The incumbent will be required to work overtime including nights and weekends, may be required to work temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts, and is expected to respond to emergency calls. This position is represented under collective bargaining. PARF# 05-27-0054 / JC-527659 Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
