Job Overview BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast‑paced emergency department. Compensation Pay range: $20.32 - $30.00 (pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.) Shift differentials: Weekday Night (Mon‑Fri 6p to 8a): $4.00 Weekend Day (Sat‑Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00 Weekend Night (Sat‑Sun 6p to 8a): $5.50 Responsibilities Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds. Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic response. Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Perform phlebotomy. Perform physical examination; accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort. Possess knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications. Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
