Job Description Summary The Marketing and Communications Student Photographer will assist the MarComm department in capturing refreshed photography for recruitment and enrollment materials. The student photographer will help to plan, set up, capture, and edit photography on-site at events both on and off campus. Under the guidance of the AVP of Strategic Marketing and Communications and the Director of Creative Services, this individual will serve as a key resource to the campus community on a wide variety of design and visual art elements for print and other marketing materials. They will regularly provide images for the university’s website, social media, flyers, brochures, advertisements, and more while maintaining a consistent visual identity. Specific Duties Capture clear, dynamic photos of students, faculty, and staff interacting at recruitment and enrollment events for marketing materials. Ensure photos are candid and capture an authentic feel of the events to accurately convey energy, mood, tone, and visual identity of the university. Capture and reproduce photographic images representing the full range of activities occurring on and off campus using photojournalistic, creative and artistic skill. Use standard and specialized equipment, including a camera with high-resolution capabilities, to ensure crisp images with good focus and lighting. Capture behind-the-scenes footage and assist with photography and video production as needed. Manipulate, enhance and/or color correct digital photographs as required in Photoshop, InDesign and related programs. Produce digital files that meet the color and resolution specifications for print, video and web-based communications. Deliver raw files and select shots to the MarComm department post-event to utilize in post-event recap on social media and online. Ensure photography during recruitment events runs as smoothly as possible while providing excellent customer service to prospective students, staff, and faculty. Organize and maintain photo archive database/data assets management system. Upload files to SharePoint and the online photo archive platform, Image Relay. Maintains photography, video and computer equipment and supplies. Manages, equips and maintains in-house photo studio. Keep up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise, including photography, videography, marketing, social media, and higher education. Performs other duties and responsibilities requiring technical expertise as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in progress in photography, fine arts, videography, communications, journalism or related field, with expertise in still photography, commercial photography, photojournalism, studio photography, videography and/or digital editing a plus. Experience with digital assets management systems and techniques; working knowledge of formatting images and videos for the web and social media. Strong proficiency in the use of industry standard image and editing software is required, including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required. Must be a current University of La Verne student Preferred Qualifications Creative thinker; ability to adapt in dynamic environment; strong customer service-oriented skills; action-oriented; detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills; positive collegial attitude; high level of professionalism; and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment. Benefits Summary Employees are eligible for the following benefits: One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours. University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds. In accordance with the Affordable Care Act ( ACA ), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
