Medical Laboratory Scientist

Description Responsible for the safe and accurate processing of laboratory specimens and reporting of results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and performing quality control in the clinical laboratory. Also responsible for specified lead tech duties. Employment Type Full time Shift Day Shift Location Shelby, MI (Oceana County) What you will do Receives specimens, clarifies test requests, checks specimen integrity and labeling. Organizes, prepares and processes specimens. Works independently in assigned departments within the laboratory. Performs testing, evaluates results, solves problems, documents results and communicates reports as needed. Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students. Performs specimen collection duties. Qualifications MLS (ASCP) certification or MLT (ASCP) certification. Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology. National Licensure as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP, AMT. Language Skills Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
