Sr Transmission Ops NERC Compliance Specialist Requisition: 82429 PSEG Company: PSEG Long Island Salary Range: $107,600 - $170,300 Work Location Category: Hybrid Fixed - Hicksville, NY Visa Sponsorship: Not offered Job Summary The Transmission Operations NERC Compliance Specialist will manage Transmission Operations compliance with NERC Operating and Planning standards that apply to LIPA's NERC functional registrations, for which Transmission Operations is responsible. This includes review of updated and new standards for applicability, evaluation of these standards to determine necessary changes to Transmission Operations policies and procedures, and developing and updating reliability standard audit worksheets (RSAW) for NERC audits. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert where applicable, develops and manages internal controls to ensure compliance, and represents LIPA on various NYISO working groups. Job Responsibilities Review proposed new or updated NERC Standards and/or NERC alerts, provide feedback/recommendations, and review finalized standards for impacts to Transmission Operations procedures. Develop or update Transmission Operations Policies and procedures to comply with standards, traveling within the service territory as required. Maintain evidence in support of NERC Reliability standards. Maintain, develop, and update Reliability audit standard worksheets, reviewing with Compliance. Represent LIPA on NYISO Transmission Operations Working Group and related committees, attending meetings in person or remotely. Perform compliance related tasks such as Protection Memo review, annual verification of need for external NON‑BES facilities, annual generator fuels and emissions reporting, seasonal ratings review, and communications compliance audits. Develop and monitor internal controls to maintain compliance with applicable NERC standards. Provide SME updates and coordinate with other SME’s for RSAW updates. Job Specific Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with 5 years relevant work experience, or 8 years of work experience if no degree. Relevant experience should include a combination of NERC reliability and Transmission control center experience or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of NERC rules, regulations, and policies related to reliability. Knowledge and understanding of the operation of a Transmission control center. Understanding of wind, solar, and storage design fundamentals and associated risks to the bulk electric system. Excellent writing and analytical skills. Proven communication skills with internal and external stakeholders and cross‑organizational collaboration. Expected to obtain NERC Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator certification within 6 months. Valid U.S. Driver's License; required for travel to conduct site visits within the PSEGLI service territory and for attending NYISO or adjacent TO meetings. Desired NERC Transmission Operator Certification. NERC compliance experience. Good grasp of industry processes and existing business regulations. Data visualization and presentation skills. Experience working in the electric utility industry.
