Chief Bio-AI Officer

PathoMatch AI is an early-stage biotech startup building an AI-driven platform that connects pathogen genomes with the most effective biologic treatments - starting with phages, fungi, and mycoviruses.

Our goal is to tackle antibiotic resistance through precision biologics and machine learning, guided by the One Health principle that connects human, animal, and environmental health.

We are assembling a founding team with complementary strengths:

A biotech entrepreneur driving the business and partnerships

A biospecimen & microbiology specialist (wet lab, compliance, data)

And now: you, a computational biologist with AI engineering expertise to bring the data intelligence to life.

Why This Role Matters

You will build the intelligence core of PathoMatch AI: the systems that make sense of genomic data, biological efficacy results, and environmental context.

You will translate messy, complex data into actionable therapeutic insights.

This is not a ‘join-later’ Co-Founder position; this is an opportunity to build the AI engine that defines the company’s USP from day one.

• Design and implement the data architecture and AI/ML models that power our pathogen–biologic matching engine.
• Integrate genomic, microbiological, and experimental data into a scalable system for predictive insights.
• Prototype an LLM-assisted biologic recommender, working closely with wet-lab and clinical partners.
• Collaborate with the biospecimen team to ensure clean and structured data flow from lab to model.
• Co-develop the technical roadmap for pilot studies, validation, and long-term scalability.

Technical Background

• PhD or strong MSc in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, or Systems Biology.
• Hands‑on experience with Python, R, and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn).
• Knowledge of genomic data formats (FASTA, VCF, GFF) and pipeline design (Snakemake, Nextflow).
• Familiarity with LLMs, NLP for scientific literature, or biological data annotation is a plus.
• Solid understanding of bacterial genomics, phages, or host‑pathogen interactions preferred.
• Experience with data management, versioning, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
