Machine Operator I

Location: Whitney, TX, 76692

Pay: $18.50/hr.

Shift: 2pm-10:30pm

Job Summary

The CNC Machine Operator operates production machinery safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures and specifications. This position reads and interprets technical drawings, sets up and operates equipment, inspects finished parts, documents production results, and performs routine equipment and work-area maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathes and other production equipment to manufacture parts according to specifications.
• Load raw materials and unload finished parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Adjust machine settings as needed to meet production and quality requirements.
• Grind, file, clean, and finish parts as required.
• Measure and inspect parts using appropriate gauges and record dimensions accurately.
• Document production output and quality inspection results.
• Follow Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety requirements.
• Clean and maintain machines, tools, equipment, and work areas.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Identify and report equipment, quality, and safety concerns.
• Maintain a safe work area free of hazards.

1. Perform other duties as assigned.

May be required to work overtime, holidays and weekends.

Education and/or Experience

1. High school diploma or GED preferred, with 0–2 years of related experience.
2. Ability to operate CNC lathes, band saws, hand tools, and powered hand tools.
3. Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, technical drawings, and procedure manuals.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
5. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
6. Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and units of measurement.
7. Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions and solve routine production problems.
8. Formal training in machine operation or CNC programming is preferred.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

1. Ability to stand on concrete floors for extended periods, including shifts of eight or more hours.
2. Ability to lift, carry, or transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
3. Ability to regularly use hands, arms, and shoulders, including fine motor skills.
4. Ability to kneel, crouch, twist, bend, reach overhead and at shoulder level, and walk extended distances.
5. Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and in moderate-to-loud noise environments.
6. Ability to maintain concentration and perform work accurately in a fast-paced or distracting environment.
7. Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changing workplace conditions

Safety and PPE Requirements

This position may involve exposure to workplace hazards or conditions requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Company safety protocols and applicable OSHA standards.

1. Proper use, care, and maintenance of required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, boots, face shields, and other protective equipment.
2. Ability to properly fit and work while wearing required PPE.
3. Follow lockout/tagout and other established safety procedures.
4. Potential exposure to hazardous materials.
5. Ability to understand and follow detailed safety instructions and protocols.
6. Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.
