Senior Fullstack AI Engineer (Generative AI / Agentic Systems)

We are partnering with an innovative technology organization at the forefront of the Generative AI revolution within a complex, data-rich industry. Their growing AI team is focused on building next-generation AI applications and enhancing existing platforms with advanced LLM and agentic capabilities.

They are seeking a Fullstack AI Engineer to drive the strategy, architecture, and delivery of cutting-edge AI solutions across the enterprise.

Assignment details:
- Location: Richardson, TX
- Work mode: hybrid - 2 days onsite per week in the office
- Duration: long-term contract
- Employment: our W-2 only - no C2C or 1099
- Rate: depends on experience

What you will do

AI architecture and strategy:
- Own end-to-end design of AI platforms and applications
- Define model strategy (OpenAI, Google, small vs. large models)
- Design scalable systems leveraging RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), multi-agent frameworks and workflow orchestration, knowledge graphs, hybrid search, and semantic caching
- Evaluate and implement emerging AI technologies (LLMs, multimodal models, real-time systems)

Platform development:
- Build reusable AI services, SDKs, and frameworks
- Establish best practices for prompt engineering and versioning, model evaluation and observability, and logging, monitoring and incident response
- Develop modular, scalable backend systems for agentic workflows

Leadership and execution:
- Lead and mentor AI/ML engineers and data scientists
- Drive design reviews, architecture decisions, and coding standards
- Partner with product and business leaders to identify high-impact AI use cases
- Own delivery of complex AI initiatives from concept through production

Governance and optimisation:
- Define evaluation frameworks (quality, safety, business impact)
- Ensure responsible AI practices (bias, privacy, compliance)
- Optimise performance and cost (model routing, caching, infrastructure design)
- Establish SLAs/SLOs and ensure system scalability and reliability

Requirements:

• 8+ years in Software Engineering, ML Engineering, or Data Science
• 3+ years working with Applied AI / LLM systems
• Proven experience in a technical leadership role
• Strong expertise in Python and/or TypeScript in production environments
• Cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
• Hands-on LLM application development (prompting, tool use, multi-agent systems)
• RAG architectures, vector databases, and retrieval optimisation
• AI evaluation, monitoring, and observability
• Proven ability to architect and scale AI systems in production
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor teams
• Able to communicate complex AI concepts to technical and business stakeholders
• Nice to have:
• Experience with coding assistants (e.g. Cursor, Codex, Windsurf)
• Multimodal or real-time AI applications (voice, streaming, UI agents)
• Exposure to AI evaluation frameworks (LangSmith, OpenAI Evals)
• Background in highly regulated or privacy-focused environments
• Experience shaping AI strategy or building AI capabilities at scale
