Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing mental health/wellness services to Catholic Charities clients/residents/patrons under the supervision of an appropriately licensed mental health professional.  This position may be stationed at the CBHS outpatient clinic, Rising Strong, the Havens, Catalyst, or a combination of these sites. This position can be filled by a graduate intern who is finishing their program and within 6 months of graduation.  An Agency Affiliated Counselor credential is required for this position.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

To perform this internship successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this job. 

1. Keep a schedule of regular appointments as per needs of CCEW program.
2. Establish an on-site presence which provides meaningful availability for program residents and provide a wide array of mental wellness/mental health activities and services.
3. Record required statistics. Practice timely and complete file management as per program requirements.
4. Meet at least weekly with assigned supervisor.
5. Provide behavioral health services according to state and professional ethical conduct guidelines.
6. Provide mental health services as per treatment plans in collaboration with a Mental Health Professional/Therapist.
7. Use Access to Care Standards for all Medicaid/State Funded clientele and provide necessary documentation.
8. Provide behavioral health services which promote growth, improve functioning, and keep clients from decompensating.
9. Document all services provided to consumers and progress toward goals identified in as per program guidelines.
10. Able to effectively teach evidence-based practice skills such as CBT, DBT, ACT, etc to clients.
11. Provide information and referrals and link consumers with community resources as needed.
12. Provide skills training and psycho-education to improve consumers and their families/supports’ understanding and management of psychiatric conditions.
13. Provide outreach services as directed by supervisor.
14. Make collateral contacts and consult other professionals to ensure maximum service benefits for participants as directed by supervisor.
15. Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
16. Able to regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
17. Adhere to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
18. Perform as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
19. Perform related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below.  These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job. 

Education/Experience:   to perform this job successfully, an individual must be enrolled in a graduate program in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Psychology, or other related field and within 6 months of graduation with a Master’s degree.  Experience working with issues of behavioral health and poverty preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: The individual must have an Agency Affiliated Counselor credential. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a valid Driver’s License and ability to drive for work use.  The individual must be and remain in good academic standing with his/her graduate school when applicable.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will be:
