Café 906 is a French-inspired neighborhood café and bistro in Baldwin Park. We are looking for a reliable and motivated Prep Cook / Line Cook to join our kitchen team.

This is a full-time position offering approximately 35–40 hours per week with a consistent schedule . This role combines food preparation, line cooking, kitchen organization, and dishwashing as needed.

Pay: $15–$18 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Approximately 35–40 hours per week
Schedule: Consistent morning/daytime shifts

Responsibilities

• Complete daily food preparation and ingredient prep
• Work the line during breakfast and lunch service
• Prepare menu items according to Café 906 recipes, portions, and presentation standards
• Keep prep and cooking stations clean, stocked, and organized
• Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed
• Maintain the dishwashing area clean and organized
• Assist with dishes during slower periods and when no dedicated dishwasher is scheduled
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces and equipment
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and properly storing ingredients
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures
• Complete assigned opening or closing kitchen duties
• Restock and prepare the kitchen for the following shift or next day's service
• Take out kitchen trash and maintain general kitchen cleanliness
• Communicate and work efficiently with the kitchen and front-of-house team

What We're Looking For

• Previous prep cook, line cook, café, bakery, or restaurant kitchen experience preferred
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, particularly during our busy morning period
• Willing to help with cooking, prep, cleaning, and dishwashing
• Able to follow recipes and maintain consistency
• Organized and able to maintain a clean workstation
• Comfortable working independently when needed
• Team-oriented and willing to help wherever needed
• Available for morning and daytime shifts, including weekends as scheduled
