Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician ensures that all welded components and assemblies meet established quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements throughout the manufacturing process. This role performs dimensional and visual inspections, documents and audits results, and collaborates closely with welders, engineers, and supervisors to resolve quality concerns. The position is critical in maintaining product integrity, reducing defects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a metal fabrication and welding environment.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety by leading with a safety-first mindset and proactively identifying and addressing potential risks before they arise.
• Perform incoming, in-process, and final product inspections, including fit-ups, welds, and final visual appearance of welded components and assemblies.
• Verify product conformance to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and established quality standards.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures to ensure precise measurements.
• Complete quality audits and process verification checks throughout the production process to confirm adherence to procedures and standards.
• Document inspection results clearly and accurately and maintain complete, organized quality records for traceability and compliance.
• Investigate nonconforming materials and products to determine the nature and extent of defects or deviations.
• Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action activities to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
• Assist with recording heat numbers and retrieving related Mill Test Reports (MTRs) to ensure material traceability.
• Support containment activities when quality issues arise by helping to isolate, control, and manage nonconforming products.
• Work closely with production personnel, including welders and other manufacturing staff, to address quality concerns and improve processes.
• Maintain compliance with applicable quality codes, customer requirements, and internal company quality standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and quality initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and overall performance.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in quality control within metal fabrication, welding, machining, or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in weld inspection and visual examination of welded components and assemblies.
• Ability to perform dimensional inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.
• Strong blueprint and drawing interpretation skills to verify product conformance to specifications.
• Knowledge of relevant quality codes, standards, and customer quality requirements.
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes to resolve and prevent quality issues.
• Ability to conduct quality audits and process verification checks throughout production.
• Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately record inspection results and maintain quality records.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with welders, engineers, supervisors, and production personnel.
• Safety-first mindset with the confidence to speak up and act to prevent risks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience in a metal fabrication or welding-focused manufacturing facility.
• Familiarity with recording heat numbers and retrieving Mill Test Reports (MTRs) for material traceability.
• Participation in continuous improvement or quality improvement initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a production environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a semi climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on metal fabrication, welding, and industrial production. You will regularly work on the shop floor, performing inspections on welded components and assemblies using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The environment emphasizes safety and adherence to quality standards, with close interaction among production personnel, welders, and engineering staff in a hands-on, industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broken Arrow, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
