Your impact will include:Hands-On Build & Rework: Assemble, modify, diagnose, and refine electronic assemblies, PCBs, cables, and harnesses. You'll help create mission-critical systems-from vehicle integrations and electromechanical devices to motion platforms, electronics packaging, and multi-spectral signature management solutions (visible, NIR, thermal, acoustic, RF).Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work side-by-side with senior engineers, technicians, managers, and end-users in tight-knit, agile teams. Clear communication, quick iteration, and adaptability are core to how we work.Seamless System Integration: Apply your understanding of electromechanical systems to integrate mechanical designs into fully functional products that perform in demanding environments.Joining HII means joining a team with decades of proven impact:Impactful Work: Earn a sense of accomplishment by making meaningful contributions to our nation's top security priorities.Rapid Prototyping: Access to some of the most comprehensive secure rapid prototyping facilities in the mid-Atlantic region, including a full in-house machine shop, composite fabrication, finishing, welding, electronics assembly, and testing capabilities.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic systems and components.Perform functional testing using scopes, meters, generators, and other diagnostic tools.Assemble, modify, and rework PCBs, cables, harnesses, and electronic assemblies to spec.Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical instructions.Install, configure, and maintain electronic equipment in bench, lab, and field environments.Document test results, repairs, and configuration changes per company standards.Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability.Partner with engineers on prototype builds, design updates, and system integration.Follow quality and safety practices, including ESD, IPC, and facility protocolsIdentify root-cause failures and support continuous improvement.Maintain a clean, safe, organized workspace.Manage inventory of parts, tools, and test equipment.Calibrate and verify test equipment as required.Support onboarding and training of new technicians.Minimum QualificationsAssociates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years related experience.U.S. citizen and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearanceIndustry certifications such as:IPC-A-610 / IPC-J-STD-001 (soldering, assembly)IPC/WHMA-A-620 (wire harness manufacturing)Technical SkillsAbility to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and PCB layoutsProficiency using test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power suppliesExperience with soldering, rework, and assembly of cables, harnesses, and PCBsFamiliarity with troubleshooting analog and digital circuitsKnowledge of ESD procedures and safe handling of sensitive electronicsAbility to install, maintain, repair, and test electronic systems or componentsBasic computer skills and experience with diagnostic software, firmware updates, or configuration toolsPreferred RequirementsActive Secret or higher SCI security clearance.Experience with:Battery pack integrationSMT equipment (stencil printer, pick and place, reflow oven)PCB washerFamiliarity with ISO-9001, AS9100 requirementsUnderstanding of microcontrollers, sensors, RF systems, or power electronicsAbility and willingness to perform other activities as needed across the organization such as electro-mechanical assembly, operation and repair of manufacturing machinery such as waterjets and laser cutters, facility maintenance, application of coatings, forklift operation, etc.Physical Requirements Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment. May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
