PAYROLL AND BENEFITS SPECIALIST

The organization is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist responsible for coordinating and administering payroll operations, employee benefits programs, and unemployment claims. This role is also accountable for the administration and financial reconciliation of employee benefits, including data verification, record maintenance, account reconciliation, report generation, and issue resolution as required.

Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

• Process biweekly payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist with payroll system issues, unemployment claim responses, and employment verification requests as needed.
• Receive and verify payroll documentation submitted by department leaders.
• Review timesheet hours and payroll totals for accuracy, including required deductions and adjustments such as 401(k), FMLA, and related items.
• Ensure all time-off requests and electronic timesheets have received appropriate supervisory approval.
• Generate payroll previews for management review and verify payroll data prior to processing.
• Maintain detailed payroll records and prepare payroll documentation for submission to the Finance Department for each pay period.
• Update and maintain employee benefits deductions in the HRIS. Maintain employee deduction records per fiscal year.
• Worker's Compensation Insurance Administration. Act as primary in filing worker's compensation claims. This includes receiving and verify completeness of the Accident Investigation Form, transferring information to fill-in PDF First Report of Injury Form, and submitting form to insurance company, when needed.
• Conduct Workers Compensation Audit, working with auditors through process
• Prepare and file OSHA Report
• Prepare and file EEO-1 Report
• Reconcile monthly invoices against payroll deduction report.

Requirements – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Thorough knowledge of payroll administration, employment regulations, benefits programs, and insurance plans.
• Ability to research and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to respond effectively to employee inquiries.
• Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and emerging regulatory requirements preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels. xhyhwjd

• Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
