Financial Controller

Hands-on leadership role overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, payroll, HR administration, IT coordination, insurance, and compliance for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Highlights Opportunity to lead both accounting and business administration functions Excellent work-life balance with a flexible, professional environment and the potential for one remote day per week following onboarding and training High visibility and direct interaction with leadership and Board members in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Mission-driven organization making a meaningful impact in the community Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations Prepare and review monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual reporting, forecasts, and financial analysis; prepare financial reports and presentations for leadership, the Finance Committee, and Board meetings Coordinate the annual audit and ensure compliance with accounting policies, nonprofit regulations, and internal controls Oversee payroll, employee benefits administration, and related HR compliance activities Manage banking relationships, treasury functions, investments, and loan compliance requirements Coordinate property and liability insurance programs and support risk management initiatives Partner with external IT providers to ensure systems, software, and processes remain secure and effective Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 6+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and sound accounting practices, including accrual, cash, and modified accrual bases of accounting.
