Area Supervisor

Position Overview The Area Supervisor is responsible for a specific assigned area of the store and performs general store operations while serving as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes. Essential Functions Open and close store, including security and timekeeping. Maintain a safe and secure environment; monitor sales floor and report unsafe conditions. Supervise store security, including entrance control, electronic article surveillance, cash office, and armored carrier pick‑ups. Ensure customer safety, accident prevention and reporting, and emergency procedures. Maintain cleanliness and merchandising of the store per company standards. Perform general merchandising tasks: sizing, markdowns, receiving, processing merchandise and non‑merchandise deliveries, stocking and floor moves. Manage loss prevention awareness program, conduct inspections and use PVM system. Supervise front end operations: train and coach associates, maintain pace, handle cash registers, shortages, and back‑hand processing. Oversee fitting room maintenance, tag audits, and return processing. Complete administrative duties as assigned: cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll reports, scheduling, register control, and refund approval. Competencies Manage work processes efficiently. Qualifications and Special Skills Excellent verbal communication skills. Fluency in English. Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications. Basic mathematical calculation skills for retail. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements / ADA Use store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC). Stand, walk, and move up to 100% of working time. Frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasionally push, pull, lift more than 25lbs; stockroom shifts may require >20lbs. Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
