Child Life Specialist (Per diem) Surgical - Needham, MA

Position Summary Per diem Child Life Specialist. Please note this is at our Needham, MA location. This role will support our surgical department. We require a minimum of 2 shifts per month for our per diem staff. Responsibilities Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences. Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Delegate work assignments to volunteers/Child Life Assistants and participate in clinical training of student interns. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life. 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist. General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experience-based knowledge. Well-developed writing skills and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member. Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire. Compensation & Benefits The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
