Staff Product Manager, Affirm Bank

Affirm

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We are building our own bank—and this role sits at the center of that ambition. We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to own the end‑to‑end bank product: operationalizing a new bank charter within our ecosystem, launching the deposit product, driving loan originations through the bank entity, and ensuring seamless integration across our platform. This is a rare opportunity to build a foundational new business line from the ground up—a line that will reshape how we fund, serve, and grow relationships with our consumers. You’ll work at the intersection of regulated banking, platform engineering, and consumer products to bring our bank to life. What You’ll Do Own the end‑to‑end bank product, serving as the single‑threaded product owner across deposits, loan originations, banking compliance, and operations. Launch and own the bank’s deposit product, shipping the launch and driving the roadmap to scale from early launch to a multi‑billion‑dollar deposit base. Operationalize the de novo bank build, driving cross‑functional work to stand up and scale bank operations with regulatory readiness and vendor integrations. Drive originations through the bank entity, shaping how we originate and retain loans in collaboration with Credit, Capital Markets, Engineering, and Treasury. Navigate banking compliance and regulatory requirements, partnering with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and the bank’s executive team to meet federal and state standards. Integrate the bank deposit product into our consumer ecosystem, defining domain boundaries, data flows, and integration points between the bank and our app. Influence up and across the organization by communicating strategy, trade‑offs, and priorities to senior leadership and the Bank Board. What We Look For 6+ years of product management experience with demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic, independent leader on complex, ambiguous initiatives. Proven program leadership at scale, owning cross‑functional launches and engaging executive leadership or boards. Experience in banking, deposits, or lending, with understanding of deposit products, bank charter operations, or loan origination mechanics and the regulatory landscape. Strong preference for bank charter experience, having been involved in a de novo bank launch or early‑stage bank buildout. Deposit product strategy experience is a plus, having defined or scaled deposit products such as high‑yield savings accounts, spending accounts, or CDs. Experience in fintech, financial services, or banking; familiarity with BNPL, neobanking, or platform products is a plus. Strong technical fluency, comfortable working with engineers on system design, data models, API architecture, and core banking platform integrations. Proficiency with AI‑assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate your own work and raise the bar for quality and speed. Demonstrated ability to drive cross‑functional alignment across Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Finance, and executive leadership in highly regulated environments. Exceptional written and verbal communication, able to distill complex regulatory and financial concepts into clear narratives for diverse audiences. Bias for action and intellectual curiosity – moving fast, asking hard questions, taking ownership before being asked. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience. Compensation Pay Grade: P; Equity Grade: 13. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits. USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $225,000 – $275,000. USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $200,000 – $250,000. Benefits Health care coverage – premiums fully covered for all levels of coverage for you and your dependents. Flexible Spending Wallets – stipends for technology, food, lifestyle needs, and family formation expenses. Time off – competitive vacation and holiday schedules. ESPP – employee stock purchase plan enabling purchase of shares at a discount. We believe it’s on us to provide an inclusive interview experience for all, including people with disabilities. We are happy to provide reasonable accommodations to candidates in need of individualized support during the hiring process. For U.S. positions that could be performed in Los Angeles or San Francisco, we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance. Affirm is a remote‑first company; the majority of roles are remote and can be performed from anywhere within the country of employment. Certain roles may require occasional work from an assigned office. #J-18808-Ljbffr Affirm
